Title: The Lost Colony
Author: Joolz
Category: Gen, Crossover, Drama, H/C
Pairing: None
Word count: 26,000
Rating: R for some violence and brief nudity
Season/Spoilers: SGA – 2nd-ish, no spoilers / Numb3rs – 2nd-ish, no spoilers
Notes: This is not my usual angst fest (well, there is a little bit). It’s more an enjoyment of some lovely characters and buddy-fic. I want the whole Numb3rs cast to move to Atlantis. There’s just a touch of SG-1 in there as well. Many thanks to valiant betas Lady Ra and Jenn. I take full blame for the final product.
Summary: Stargate Atlantis / Numb3rs crossover. In the Pegasus Galaxy they’ve found a puzzle that only one man can solve. The Eppes brothers go traveling.
Disclaimer: Not my lovely characters, just playing with them.
Warnings: None in particular, past the rating

This was a great idea and it was very well executed. I enjoyed it immensely. I hope you do write a sequel (and that you get Larry there, too).

I loved the interaction between Rodney and Charlie - heck - between the brothers and everyone. And Don as Elizabeth's Chief of Staff was a priceless idea.

I'm glad the crossover worked for you. Thanks for letting me know you liked it!

I never feel a review can do justice to a long fic like this: it was fun, it was enjoyable to read, the cross-over worked well and there were some lovely character moments. :) I was wondering how Don was going to fit in there, but you worked him in beautifully and the Ronon - Charlie interaction was incredibly cute. The ending was great too - the disappointment followed by the brilliantly corny (which I mean in the nicest of ways) final scene, it was a lovely way to draw all the threads together. Gives you one hell of a set up for a sequel really, doesn't it? ;)

Loved it.

Yes, there are LOTS of sequel options here. I could spend years writing in this universe. LOL

Thanks for the review, it's good to hear what worked well for you.

Oh, oh, oh, oooh! :D God, I love this story! I love you! Omg!

The way you fit both Eppes brothers into Atlantis' social structure! Brilliant! Especially how you made Rodney and Charlie instant best buddies instead of rivals! Yes! And Don! Getting Elizabeth's paperwork dumped on him, heehee. Running with John and Ronon - what an image!

And now Alan will join them?! Oh, Joolz, you better are already writing a sequel! ...*eyeballs you*

Erm, ignore the mfor part of those exclamation marks, I was very enthusiastic and anyway it's all your fault.

Enthusiasm is a good thing! Glad you liked it. I'll let it slip here for the first time that if I do get around to a sequel, it will be slash. Knew you wouldn't mind *g*

It is! :) Oh in that case, please, do get around and do write a sequel. God Lord!

You're entirely welcome.

This was the most awesome gen fic I have read ever. Wonderful job.

::sends chocolate carrots for the bunnies:: think sequel :)

From: [identity profile] joolz01.livejournal.com

Thanks! I personally think a good gen fic doesn't have far to go to become slash, and that's true here. *g*

Glad you liked it!

Wow, what a great fic! I've only see a couple of bits and pieces of Numb3rs, not even a whole episode, but you fleshed out the characters so well I didn't have to know anything about them.

I loved the scene where Rodney confesses to John that he gets lonely not being able to talk to someone on his level. Even with all the intelligent people around him, they still can't keep up. No wonder Rodney yells at them, he must be so frustrated when people can't see what he sees. And just imagine how lonely he must have felt as a child, when he probably wasn't ever in his own peer group.

Lovely scene with John and Don talking about "their" geeks. John explaining the reason for his friendship with Rodney and the family they made for themselves on Atlantis. Nice!

The scene with Ronon and Don was wonderful. Ronon actually saying more than a sentence! And showing the intense loyalty we've seen on the show.

Showing John's "dark side" when he saw what happened to the people he's sworn to protect, that was great, too.

I think I'll stop now, or I'm going to cite every scene you wrote!

Seems this crossover was meant to be, doesn't it? Charlie the math genius and Don already in service to his country as an FBI agent.

There are so few long gen fics out there compared to the slash ones. I like the slash as well as anyone else (and if you go that way in future installments I wouldn't object 8-) ), but a good gen fic is a lovely thing to behold.

Thanks for sharing.

What nice feedback! It's great to hear what worked for you in the story. I'm glad you enjoyed it even without knowing Don and Charlie well beforehand. That's a sign of success!

Loved this! I'm a huge Numb3rs fan, so it was cool having the Eppes brothers on Atlantis. Oh, and getting Alan there, too. Woohoo!

I'm so glad you liked it! The two shows do go well together, don't they. Why isn't everyone writing SGA/ Numb3rs crossovers?

Thanks! My brain is working away on a sequel now... *G*

What a lovely story! I'm not a big fan of SGA, but I love Numb3rs. I really like the way you meshed the two 'verses. I'm interested in seeing how you get Larry, Amita, and the rest of Don's team to Atlantis. ::waits hopefully for a sequel::

On a side note, I'd just like to say how much I enjoy your fic, Alchemy. That is one mighty fine TS/SG-1 crossover.

From: [identity profile] joolz01.livejournal.com

It's great that you like the two shows together without being an SGA fan. That's good to hear.

And I'm glad you liked Alchemy, too! Thanks for letting me know.

I've never seen Numb3rs, but the characters are wonderful, and interact so well with the SGA crew! Fantastic story--thank you so much for writing it!

I found it via SGA Storyfinders.

Oh wow, I just read this story from start to finish and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The building of friendship between the Eppes brothers and the Atlantis teams and their integration into one solid team.

Again I just loved the whole thing.

Sequel? Yes please!
Just wanted to tell you how much I loved your story! You made these two fandoms fit together perfectly. Might be fun with a story where Don and Charlie have to go back to Earth and work together with Don's old team. Maybe one of the scientist had some trouble or something?

From: [identity profile] joolz01.livejournal.com

The fandoms go great together, don't they! Many story possibilities....

Thanks for letting me know you liked it!

From: [identity profile] yoghi06.livejournal.com

I must confess most times I'm a slash addict ^^....but your story totally got me hooked !!
I'm not really coherent and just feel like saying WOW ;)
I love both fandoms mostly because of the team interactions and you brought the characters and their relations out so well I just have to love you *lol*
Charlie and Rodney being friends , John and Dons late night musings ,Ronon as a friend and so much more that was great (also the lenght of the storie )...
Hope you find the muse for a sequel and thanx for sharing :)
