So yes, SGA Outcast squee seems to be centralized here this time, but I want to document the milestone, too.
Yay for the slash. Yay for the backstory!
So John's father dies, and without even talking to John or asking if it's all right, he requests leave to go with him to the funeral. He assumes that of course he will go, and John is completely unsurprised by that - he rather expected it himself. But Rodney can't go and he apologizes like it's a grave failing on his part. Big no-no, failing to supportively accompany your boyfriend to his father's funeral!
Really, there aren't many other ways to interpret this scene. It's way more than a best bud would do, especially among emotionally repressed men.
John says he's fine. Like hell! *huggles the woobie* He should totally go ahead and cry on those big old broad shoulders!
John turns up at the funeral with spectacularly gorgeous Ronon whom the brother and probably ex-wife assume is his boyfriend. John's estranged from his family, but they're still in contact with his ex-wife. (Wasn't the way John said 'In his mind marrying you was the best thing I ever did' excessively bitter? Ouch, poor Nancy.) There are other ways to interpret that, but John's gayness is totally the best way.
It's interesting that they made John's family super wealthy, but he didn't follow the family expectations. I wonder if they made it so much like JF's family on purpose.
John tells Bill to use sunscreen next time. You know he's thinking about Rodney then! LOL
Why is John running around on Earth chasing the replicator? Because SG-1 is disbanded and no one else at the SGC is up to it? Weird, but the Atlantis people are all we have anymore. :( Of course Rodney should have been there to help, but I know he was busy off filming Trio. I'm going to stop asking why this and why that, because we could be here all day. There are a number of questionable scenarios in this one.
John gets to the scientist by threatening the girl. There's the dark ruthless John we've seen this season. I guess the Special Ops missions Nancy refers to later give that aspect of him some backstory.
Is it just me or was John talking in that breathy whisper more than he normally does?
In summary, the replicator chase storyline was kind of blah, but there were enough fun character development moments to more than make up for it!
